Fog… darkness …strobes … underground…Rue Oberkampf is pure ecstasy. “You have to see them live,” says – among others – rcn Magazin in 2019.
Founded at the end of 2016 by three DJs, the band combines 80s ecstasy with the atmosphere of fog- shrouded, strobe-lit dance temples of the techno era. Rue Oberkampf forges a bridge between cold wave, synthpunk, EBM and techno. Their live shows pull audiences into a maelstrom of sound, neon and storms of light. They have opened for bands like DAF, Lebanon Hanover and Vive la fête and play headliner shows throughout Europe. Rue Oberkampf released their debut EP Waveclash on No Emb Blanc in 2018. Various live performances at NCN, WGT EBM Warm Up and TIQ Berlin followed. In October 2019 Christophe-Phillipe the first long player, was released on Young and Cold Records with great fanfare within and beyond the scene. With NEgativraum, they released a “techno-fused coldwave” on ant-zen records (2020). Liebe is Rue Oberkampf’s long-awaited second LP, released 2022. The album can be seen as a reflection on the two years before – what we’ve lost, what we’re longing for…With LIEBE, Rue Oberkampf is moving back and forth between 90s EBM- and techno-fused stompers to surprisingly gothy synth pop and darkwave tracks.
