Qntal is the avant-garde cosmos of two exceptional artists who came together in 1991 to animate medieval song and word material with electronic sound constructions and a historical instrumentarium – a groundbreaking fusion of present and history. Mezzo-soprano Syrah and composer and multi-instrumentalist Michael Popp created an innovative acoustic amalgam beyond common listening habits, a self-sufficient genre that is so much more than a Gottfried von Strasbourg on Jean-Michel Jarre or a Kraftwerk’s Wolfram von Eschenbach.
