Torul combine synthpop and electropop with influences from indie and darkwave, creating a sound that has never been particularly interested in sticking to one direction. Led by musician and producer Torul Torulsson, the Ljubljana-based band have a strong instinct for electronic sounds and melodies while regularly venturing beyond the traditional boundaries of synthpop.
At times, driving beats and catchy choruses take centre stage; elsewhere, the music becomes more melancholic, atmospheric, or experimental. Synthesizers remain at the heart of their sound but are regularly joined by guitars and other organic elements. It is this combination that has allowed Torul to keep their distinctive identity despite constantly exploring new directions.
Live, Torul bring this versatility to the stage with plenty of energy. Electronics and guitars meet Maj Valerij’s distinctive voice, creating an atmosphere that continually shifts between danceable moments and melancholic depth.
